Easiest and best way to convert video to iPod readable format, retaining either 4:3 or widescreen, is to use 3gp converter. It is a free application and can convert directly from a DVD VOB the best way to play your owned movies on the iPod is first remove the decryption with DVD shrink, DVD fabdecryper etc, and then reedit the DVD with DVD shrink (if you didn’t already do so) reauthor the DVD and remove the menus (just have the movie) un-selecting the option to split vobs to 1gb files. This will make a single vob file of the movie. Select the output place where you want the iPod movie to be on the 3gp user screen, then drag the movie vob file over. The whole process is incredibly fast.
